Earlier today, a press release was sent out from Universal Germany about Morten’s second single, “Scared of Heights”. The single will be released outside Norway on March 23, and there will be a music video for the song as well.
The single cover is below, and the press release text follows.

It is the next chapter in a story about a great band – a new beginning following a triumphant farewell. Deep inside, Morten Harket felt that the whole story had not yet been told: The story of a-ha, with its unforgettable songs. “I definitely didn‘t want to do anything half-hearted: But I had the feeling that it was not the end of the road”, he recalled, looking back to December 2010. In Oslo, after 25 years, a-ha had finally broken up. A break-up without ill-will, opening new doors.
With the light, up-tempo arrangement of “Scared of Heights” came the first “post a-ha era” song. Upon hearing the intro, it was clear: Morten Harket had listened to his heart. He is taking the band’s special aura into the future – in his own way. Unlike in his earlier solo albums, he is not trying to stick or relate to any specific genre, but is clearly dedicating himself to the art of the great pop songs. This is obvious when his unmistakable voice floats through an arrangement penned by Norwegian songwriter Espen Lind, co-writer of Trains 2009 hit “Hey Soul Sister”. This is when the spirit of a-ha unites with Harket’s joyful creativity.
Thus “Scared of Heights” is both a sample of, and a look at, the upcoming “Out of My Hands” album. After creating the framework in his studio at home in Oslo fjord, Harket put together a multi-talented team. His very old friend and lyricist Ole Sverre Olsen joined him, as did Swedish producer Peter Kvint, British studio crack Steve Osborne and keyboarder Erik Ljunggren. The intensive work surrounding “Out of My Hands” was “a game of mutual, inspirational ping-pong”, recalls Harket.

Quando deu umas 19h eles colocaram trechos de 6 músicas novas para a gente ouvir e éramos os primeiros do mundo a ouvir!!!! Depois disso o Morten entrou, nossa! Não podia acreditar! A primeira pergunta que um dos fãs fez a ele foi sobre o Letter from Egypt, depois, eu fui a segunda a perguntar sobre a turnê por aqui se seria só Rio-SP ou se iria para cidades como Recife, Fortaleza. Ele respondeu que gostaria de ter oportinidade de ir para várias cidades, mas que a principio seriam só 3. E então foi anunciado pela intérprete que ele estaria no Rio, SP e BH em setembro (22,23 e 26) e depois iria para Argentina e Chile. Ele disse que gosta muito da América do Sul, inclusive que um lugar que ele não esquece é a Amazônia. Perguntaram como foi a sensação de tocar no Rock in Rio II, ele disse que o palco era muito grande e mal via o outros músicos e que a platéia, apesar de imensa era educada pois, não teve tumulto e daí ele falou que o povo brasileiro era muito educado e tal. O pessoal começou a rir e daí foi explicado a ele e ao empresário dele o porquê das risadas. Nisso, como eu estava a um metro e meio dele e bem na frente dele, falei “em off” que na Noruega era bem diferente, ele disse que lá só tinham animais e eu falei que não que eu sabia porque já tinha estado lá. Ele sorriu. Perguntaram se ele cantaria uma música em português e ele disse que teria que ser uma música para dançar. Daí “em off “ eu falei que aqui havia outros ritmos além de samba e ele disse que sabia. Perguntaram se ele lançaria um livro um dia, ele falou que é um trabalho muito extenso, trabalhoso, que talvez não, mas se de repente aparecesse a oportunidade e desse certo...Os trabalhos dele como ator ele disse que foram só por favor e até brincou que convidaram-no para fazer o Homem Aranha mas até agora ele não deu resposta! Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Ele falou do processo de criação de música que é como um namoro, falou que não tem como escolher apenas uma música do novo álbum, falou de fundamentalismo que os seres humanos, diferente de outras raças, são os únicos que pensam “quem eu sou?” que uma vaca não pensa isso. E que sempre estamos fazendo perguntas e que se não obtemos respostas elas expiram pois, estamos num constante processo de mudança. E nisso ele falou que acredita em Deus, num criador.Sobre o fato de ele ter vindo agora para cá, ele disse que ele acabou de “sair da caverna”, isto é, que acabou de sair do estúdio, de finalizar o álbum e queria começar esse novo processo por aqui e como não deu certo de ele vir em fevereiro, ele virá em setembro, mas veio agora para dar início a divulgação do livro, a uma turnê, por aqui. Uma moça contou uma história que ela há anos atrás teve uma baque na vida e tentou cometer suicídio e a mãe colocava “A kind of Christmas card” para ela ouvir, de novo, e de novo, até que ela superou e conseguiu sair daquilo. Então, chorosa, ela agradeceu a ele e espontaneamente ele veio e abraçou-a. Como ela estava sentada atrás de mim e ao meu lado esquerdo tinha uma cadeira vaga, ele abraçou-a por aí (do meu lado). Então aproveitei e disse que ele mudou a vida de muita gente, ele sorriu e encostou a mão no meu ombro. Sobre o fim da banda, ele disse que na época de Letters from Egypt ele se sentia como “Double dating”, como se tivesse duas relações e que agora não, que ele tem só a carreira solo, que é tudo novo.

Morten disse que não escuta música, que escuta os barulhos da casa como a água passando pelos canos! rs

Ele fica sabendo das novidades musicais que chegam até ele, mas escutar um CD mesmo, só parando e escutando mesmo, ele não ouve um CD fazendo outra coisa junto
No final, pediram para ele tocar uma música do novo álbum, mas ele falou que só em setembro. Tinham 130 pessoas lá, sendo que a capacidade era só para 89 (segundo a produção da Fnac).Então depois, o Morten deu autógrafo e tirou foto com pelo menos 100 delas.
Ele estava muito feliz, estava muito bem mesmo, com um ótimo astral e tudo ao redor também teve um ótimo astral, foi muito bom, muito descontraído e informal, como se fosse mesmo uma conversa entre amigos. Aliás, o Morten disse que ele não é um artista que tem uma platéia, que isso é uma relação, há uma relação, uma ligação entre ele e o público.

Acabei de voltar do evento do Morten, que estava muito simpático, atetendeu a muitos fãs e disse que estará no Brasil em setembro.
Agora é oficial. Atenção às datas: 22.9 Rio, 23.9 SP e 26.9 BH. Depois ele vai para a Argentina e pro Chile. Ele disse que esse
evento começou por aqui pois, ele acabou de gravar o CD e queria começar por aqui.

Ouvimos seis pedacinhos das músicas novas e se assemelham ao Footo of the Mountain.

Morten is interviewed in today's VG, in connection with tomorrow's comedy show on TV Norge to benefit UNICEF. The show will feature a report from Morten's visit to Kingston, Jamaica this summer.

"We visited a community with much violence and difficult social conditions, quite a common type of area in Jamaica. Some of those we met, around 20 years old, were clearly on drugs and already heavily involved in crime. That's how they've chosen to take control of their own life", Morten tells the newspaper.

Among those he met was a 14 year old girl who was eager to get married.

"It's normal for all girls that age to be thinking about boyfriends, but when they get pregnant at such a young age, it really puts them back in relation to their own future."

- Do you feel privileged to have your children grow up in Norway?, VG asks.

"Yes, of course we're privileged - we have such a high level of safety and security here that it's almost incomprehensible for other people."

- In that respect, the Utøya attack this summer was a big exception?

"It definitely was."

In Jamaica, Morten apparently received a lot of attention. Not because he's famous, but because he's white and had expensive sunglasses.

"The children we met had no idea who I was. Jamaica is very isolated in that regard, as they only listen to local music. They don't know who U2 are, or Coldplay, REM and Madonna. And certainly not a-ha! But that's also what makes it an interesting place to visit", Morten says.

"Humorkveld" to benefit UNICEF airs live on TV Norge tomorrow night. Part 1 between 19:00 and 20:00, and part 2 between 21:30 and 23:00.

The norwegian guide and scout association is holding this month (from 17th to 23rd) its annual fund-raising campaign. This year, like in the last, money will go to educational projects for young people in East Timor. Morten, since 1993, supports East Timor and last month he was interviwed in the official movie for the campaign.
